About This Game
Coil is a one-button game with a nasty twist: your own trail is the obstacle. Hold and you curve one way, release and you curve back the other, and while you do it your glowing line stays on the screen as a solid wall. Every second you survive makes the board more dangerous, because every second you survive you've drawn more of it.
That turns a simple drift-and-dodge loop into something closer to planning. There's no shooting, no upgrades, no menus — just how tightly you're willing to coil, and whether you left yourself a way back out of the shape you just painted.
How to Play
One input, nothing else. Hold to curve in one direction; release to curve in the other. You cannot stop, and you cannot go straight — the line is always turning one way or the other, so steering means choosing which of two arcs you're on and how long you stay on it. Hit your own trail and the run ends.
A daily seed gives every player the same run for the day, so the score at the top of the board was set on exactly the board you're playing.
Strategy Tips
- Coil toward the outside of the play area early. Tight spirals in the middle look impressive and leave you with nowhere to unwind into thirty seconds later.
- Alternate hold and release in short bursts to travel in a rough straight line — long holds are what paint the walls that kill you.
- Think one loop ahead, not one turn ahead. The wall you're drawing now is the wall you have to thread on your next pass.
- When you're boxed in, the wide arc is usually survivable and the tight one usually isn't — panic tightening is the most common way runs end.
- The daily seed is the same for everyone, so a practice run costs you nothing but tells you where the space runs out.
